[BK Plastic Surgery] ***CAUTION !!! Before & After Surgery ***

1. Most facial contouring surgeries are performed under general anesthesia; it is important to fast 8 hours prior to surgery.
2. Please get a god night sleep before surgery.
3. Consult a doctor in advance if you are allergic to medication, or if you are currently on medication.
4. It is recommended to avoid surgery during a menstrual cycle since hormone changes can increase bleeding in general.
5. You must stop smoking 2 weeks in advance and drinking 3-4 days prior to surgery. 
6. You must remove your nail polish in advance for monitoring systems to be connected at your finger tips. 
7. You must wear comfortable clothes with no accessories before coming to hospital.
8. Please erase all make-up before coming to hospital.
9. Driving under the remaining effect of general anesthesia can be dangerous.
10. Water or juice may be had 4-5 hours after surgery, but its recommended to keep inside the mouth clean afterwards. 

[Post-Operative Instructions] 

1. Ice or Warm Pack
1. For 1~2 days after surgery, you must apply ice packs to minimize swelling and bruises. After 3 days of surgery, use warm pack to help blood circulation and reduce swelling. 
2. Posture 
1. Staying with the upper body elevated helps reducing swelling.
3. Compressive Bandage 
1. Compressive bandages worn during surgery, are checked again on he same day and removed after 1-2 days.
4. Food
1. Liquid diets are recommended during the first week. You may move onto normal diet after following soft diet on 2nd week.
2. You must avoid hard or chewy food during the first month.
5. Oral Care
1. You must keep your mouth clean with either saline solution or mouthwash 4 times a day to prevent infection/ irritation.
2. You may start brushing your teeth after 2 weeks with a small brush to prevent irritating incision spots. 
6. Other
1. You must avoid drinking and smoking during the first month, Any bruise or numbness on surgical sites are temporary.
